Part of Dastardly Difficult December: film nr.2
What a delightful little film. I watched this today with my four year old, beg pardon almost five year old, daughter.
This classic tale lends itself really well for this kind of live action film and it is done beautifully. Especially the voice acting, which is never good in Dutch dubbed versions, was of the highest order.
But what makes me so generous in my rating is the warmth this film emanates that completely rubbed off on my daughter. This was for her a film that made her laugh and cry and ended up giving her a huge grin on her face.
Job well done I'd say.

Decemberists #64
I took me all of two or three minutes before I realised this was going to be something of a savage bastard. A gravy train carrying some Hollywood celebrities to prospect for candy in Baby Town.

Ok I know, kid movie, but hey I liked the book when I was a kid and never got around to seeing the movie. Same story as the book, like exactly. That was certainly refreshing. You’ve got talking animals ala Babe. You’ve got the huge cast of celebrity voices. I mean Oprah was even in this one. She was a goose I think. Danny Elfman did the score, which was a treat. Nice flick for everybody. For crying out loud it was rated G. I haven't seen anything rated G in forever
