The painful irony between Child's Play and Child's Play 2 is that these films are only scary to children, yet their R-rating obviously means they're more off-limits to that crowd than they are for adults. For adults like me, they're not even able to drum up adequate tension. That's because they're victims of the post-John Carpenter's The Thing-80's slogan: show everything. So, we see way too much at all times. That approach worked for Gremlins (because the writing was so damn good and director Joe Dante was a genius) but lightning did not strike twice with the debut of Chucky. More than anything what makes Child's Play and this sequel laughable today is that neither one gets the formula right.…

The major failure of this film is the lack of suspense. Yes, it has, but it concentrates more on Chucky's character and his macabre sense of humour.
Still, it's really, really fun to watch. Brad Dourif is just fantastic. He transmits a power on screen only with his voice.
I didn't enjoyed the easy ways the writers took: Sending Andy's mom to a mental institute? Sure.
But it has heart, a real attempt to create an atmosphere, it's fast paced, and Chucky is just such an amazing movie character, and that is why this movie works so nicely, even with all its flaws."DON'T FUCK WITH THE CHUCK!"

I've always had a soft spot for these movies, but I recognize their ludicrousness. This one is pretty standard, but the climax is surprisingly clever and exciting. If the first two thirds of the film had matched it's imagination, the whole movie might actually be good.

La buena.

Muy mala. Mala, mala, mala, mala.

One of the stupidest, most poorly made movies I have ever seen and I say that with my cult movie/nostalgia glasses firmly in place. Just pointless.

Predictable sequel. Some parts are better than the first movie and some are worse.

Still pretty solid follow up, showing how Chucky could come back. Basically a rich man's idea to prove a little kid wrong, backfires on them all and he's reborn. I really loved Elise as the older adopted sister here and Andy was a little less annoying. Seeing one character get beat to death with a ruler was funny.

I've went through my entire life with the opinion that this Child's play film was the best of the franchise. But, following this viewing I realized that I was wrong and the original Child's play is far superior. This is still a good sequel and a fun watch and I've always liked the ending sequence in the Good Guys factory.
