Solid movie. Slightly off-beat, without overdoing it. Ezra Miller is gamely obnoxious and this is the best we've seen Garcia in quite a while, perhaps one of his best performances ever. Unfortunately, the very end is pretty damn terrible, albeit Garcia losing it right before that was very funny.

I'm very disappointed that this didn't hold up very well on a re-watch. The first time I saw it, I was laughing so hard I was crying and could barely keep up with the story because I was so focused on the last hilarious thing I had just seen/heard in the movie. This time around, I knew what to expect, and because I was anticipating those jokes, I didn't find them as funny. The drama seemed a bit over-the-top and the acting sub-par. I still enjoyed it, but I can't say it's one of my recent favorites anymore.

A very hilarious, and emotionally honest film, even it it is not that original. Andy Garcia surprises in a very likeable and sensitive role.
-
Well-structured story with a great redemption and climax that interwove the unusual subplots in an interesting, if not unique, way.

America-Italian Family lying to each other but in the end; happyend.

Apparently I'm in the mood for plain uplifting movies. This is one. *Sigh*

The synopsis and movie poster don't say much, but we have a very good comedy/drama about family relationships. The script is intelligent, captivating and original.

The strongest element of this movie is a well crafted story which weaves together several story-lines. Directing was particularly strong but overall quite enjoyable

What a great little movie! There are a lot of laughs, a lot of heart, and a satisfying ending. In fact, it was one of the most delirious, fantastically crazed endings ever. I loved it!
Andy Garcia plays a corrections officer who finds his son he abandoned in the new batch of inmates. Between this discovery and Garcia telling his family and his son what happened, there is a crap-load that happens. It just builds and builds with misunderstandings, lies, and assumptions. There is a strange subplot with Garcia's other son, who is not particularly funny and his attraction to BBW is an absolute throwaway. Otherwise, it was great.
