Cop Out
2010 Directed by Kevin Smith
Synopsis
Rock out with your Glock out
Officers Jimmy Monroe and Paul Hodges have their weapons drawn on a gun-wielding killer. They agree to shoot on three. But, wait, does that mean 1…2… shoot or 1…2…3… then shoot? Punches hit hard and laughs hit harder (or is it the other way ’round?) when action star Bruce Willis and ace comic Tracy Morgan pair as bickering-but-got-your-back Brooklyn buddy cops. Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy) directs the gritty, goofball goings-on as the guys hunt for a stolen 1952 mint condition baseball card (Jimmy needs it to fund his daughter’s wedding), a hunt plunging them into a gunslinging war with a deadly drug ring. Batter up, fans. The boys are ready to take you out to the ol’ brawl game!

Did you know they were gonna make a movie about these two starring Kevin Costner and Robert DeNiro? Yeah, it was called "The Unfuckables".
-Paul HodgesI felt obligated to watch Cop Out since I've been praising Kevin Smith and his films for close to 20 years now, need to look no further then my ridiculous love of Chasing Amy for proof of my adoration. Yet I still managed to put off watching this film for three years. I knew I would force myself to watch it eventually, but there was no getting around the fact that everyone thought it was crap and that I would probably come to the same conclusion.
Smith is at his best when he's doing…

Holy fuck balls this was bad. What the hell was going on here?
Tracy Morgan is the best thing here but he's clearly just trying to make the best of a bad situation. Bruce Willis just didn't want to be there.
Fucking hell this was bad. -
This might be the worst movie I've ever seen. Seriously.

*sigh*

The whole thing seems to be a huge cop-out.
It's beyond me why Bruce Willis has agreed to star in this amateur game of hogwash.
The film is based on two things, action and comedy.
The action part is a joke. The comedy part is everything but a joke.
If you were hoping (like me), for a good action romp. Go get your romp some place else. -
It has some laughs in the beginning, but it pretty much goes downhill from there and amounts to a shitty, cliched buddy flick where the closest it comes to being really funny is when Tracy Morgan just randomly says some weird shit (I like to watch monkeys give head.) and even if you do laugh at that, it just feels forced. Come on Kevin Smith, you're are better than this shit.

Apparently there IS something worst then a film written AND directed by Kevin Smith.

I always give a movie about 20 minutes. Every movie has to have a fighting chance, before I judge it to be shite. This movie got just about that, 20 minutes, and I stopped at the "I shit so hard"-joke, that wasn't funny and that just went on and on and on.
Oh boy, was this movie a drag. I wonder who Bruce Willis owed a favor. That must be the explanation why he was in a movie this bad. The black guy, his partner, just irritated the hell out of me every time he opened his mouth (and that was often). I should have watched the movie without the sound.
So, 20 minutes I gave the movie, and then I gave up. Not even Bruce Willis could make me watch the whole movie.

Pretty funny.

When you feel nothing but hatred for a film when you've only been watching it for 5 minutes, than that's anything but a good sign.
Pushed to the forefront of this film are Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan, two actors who provide little chemistry in their poor performances.
The public feud between Willis and Smith seems to have affected the former's acting ability, as he acts on autopilot throughout the running time. But while Willis barely tries, Tracey Morgan goes on the opposite side of the spectrum and tries too hard, believing showing you're angry is all about raising your voice as loud as possible and acting is about waving your arms as much as you can. As a result,… -
Definitely not one of Bruce Willis' better films, the plot is sloppy and unsatisfying, and yet I found myself actually really loving this film. I plan on watching it again, not for the plot of course, but to hear the hillarious stuff that comes out of Tracy Morgan's gob!!

This was awful, the pairing of Willis and Morgan was a huge mistake, no chemistry and nothing was believable. I'm sorry Kevin Smith, I wanted to like it.

A terrible movie from Kevin Smith, a filmmaker I often enjoy. This is like Lethal Weapon for the mentally handicapped. Bruno really phones it in here. Zero stars.

Compelled to watch this having read the chapter in Kevin Smith's book regarding his problematic shoot with Bruce Willis in this movie. While Willis is definitely phoning it in, the result was not as terrible as I was envisioning. Tracy Morgan single-handedly raises the bar of the movie to something at least watchable. Actually and some credit due to Smith that this at least looks like a bonafide movie, a minor accomplishment for him. The real shit of the film is the screenplay, which somehow was a hot commodity prior to the film being made. There are a few witty lines but mostly it is cringe-worthy bad.
