The title says it all with this film! It does absolutely nothing new in the thriller genre. Words like mediocre, and average describe it well. I haven't seen it in years, but I remember it well enough to say it was OK at best but that's probably being too generous. With all the good thrillers out there this one is definitely a skip unless you're the type who just has to see everything.

This is a run-of-the-mill cops hunt serial killer thriller that is lifted from the mediocre by the strength of the two leads.
Holly Hunter plays the SFPD Detective who needs the help of Sigourney Weavers agrophobic criminal psychologist to capture a serial killer imitating the methods of infamous killers from the past.
It's a shame that the quality of the material doesn't match up with the quality of the cast as this could have been great rather than just ok.
As Weavers character states in the film 'Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.' well this is nothing if not consistent.

Future film makers, if you want me to give your film a positive review, follow theses steps: your lead must be a tough-as-nails yet deeply flawed women (and have it be a real actress, I'll barf all over the screen if it's Blake Lively or something), have your filler characters be handsome (enough) men and then, and most importantly, weave a taught psychological thriller that keeps me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

I'm in love with 90's Holly Hunter. This sealed the deal. What a great movie.

An interesting take on what is a basic killer and cop drama, Harry Connick jr is creepy as hell and Sigourney and Holly make an interesting pairing. It is a typical killer targets someone in particular and the cops have to stop them before it is to late and this is a better than average film.
