THE REAL, TRUE STORY OF THE WEST!
Chicago hotel clerk Frank Harris dreams of life as a cowboy, and he gets his chance when, jilted by the father of the woman he loves, he joins Tom Reece and his cattle-driving outfit. Soon, though, the tenderfoot finds out life on the range is neither what he expected nor what he's been looking for...
Glenn Ford is a cowboy in Chicago to sell his herd and Jack Lemmon is city slicker greenhorn who wants to go out west with him and make his fortune. Lemmon and Ford are excellent and the film is a lot better than I thought it would be.
It doesn't sound great. It actually sounds like a western comedy. It's not in the least! It's good and Glenn Ford is effortless as a grizzled cowboy dealing with the very green Jack Lemmon. Both men are quite good in this, even if they're not exactly showing acting range.
Much better than expected. Jack Lemmon is surprising here.
