Bob Hope is a New York theater critic and his wife (Lucille Ball in their final motion picture pairing) writes a play that may or may not be very good. Now Hope must either get out of reviewing the play or cause the breakup of his marriage. Based on the Broadway play by Ira Levin.
Talk about miscasting: Bob Hope as an urbane theatre critic? What the... Lucille Ball is wasted (and not believable, for that matter) as his doormat of a wife. Even if the leads better matched the material, it's not like there's anything sharp about the film anyway.
Ms. Ball is quite beautiful in this. A few chuckles from Hope. Not much more than that.
