FURRY BALLS WITH TEETH THAT EAT PEOPLE!!!
FACELESS SHAPE SHIFTING BOUNTY HUNTERS!!!
BUCKETS AND BUCKETS OF EIGHTIES CHEESE!!!
Sorry for shouting so much, but how can this not be anything but fun?

A big satisfying lump of pure 80s cheese! Though it definitely smells a little bit these days...
My favourite thing in this is the hair styles! From the bounty hunters perfect Johnny Steele copying bouffant and Bille Zanes mega-douchbag pony tail to the sleazy looking priests bizarre curly fringe, they are all awesome!
Everything else pales into insignificance really. The effects have aged quite badly and its seems so tame now (noticed it has been downgraded to a 12 rating these days) but its still charming and still funny after all these years, "FUCK!".
Now I suppose I should watch the 3 sequels...

Critters is like a nicely aged cheese because it's cheesy and old, but still quite good. But it's pretty low budget, so it's like a cheap cheese like Velveeta or something. But the idea of aged Velveeta is gross. But I guess Critters is occasionally gross, too!
This is the worst review ever.
I'll just say that Critters is still a lot of fun even though now the critters don't actually ever seem very threatening.

It might be a Gremlins rip off but its great cheesy fun. Brings back happy memories of my childhood used to love it then and still do now. Critters bodycount- A cow, 2 humans and several chickens.

Its no Gremlins but it does have its charm as a silly sci-fi.

Critters reminds me a lot of Tremors in many ways. A very well-executed sci-fi, horror, thriller, b-movie, with some good moments of humor thrown in for good measure. Tremors is a classic in my eyes, but Critters is still an entertaining little-movie-that-could.

GENIALIDAD! Me encantó de peque y se conserva muy bien. Es cierto que la introducción es muy larga pero , una vez metidos en acción, te divierte que da gusto. Momentazos como los Critters vs ET o el momento escopeta son muy enormes.

How does one objectively criticize a low-budget Gremlins rip-off? How does one criticize a movie populated with furry bowling balls? CRITTERS recalls every sci-fi film of the mid-80's with gleeful (and respectful) aplomb. Three stars for filmmaking ability but a hearty check in the like column.
Critter 1: They've got weapons.
Critter 2: So?[shotgun explodes Critter 1]
Critter 2: Fuck.

Oh the 80s. Why couldn't you have lasted forever? If I feel at home in one movie making decade it is you!
After the success of "Gremlins" (1984) New Line quickly chucked out this little gem about alien termites and shapeshifting bounty hunters. Back when I was little this scared me way more than Gizmo and his companions, but at the same time I enjoyed it so much more due to the bounty hunters and their big ass weapons.
In retrospective this was the one entry in the series where they still played it semi-straight. New Line seems to be testing the waters on how funny you can go with a horror while still keeping it scary. It is also…

One of my favorite Sci-Fi/Horror films, CRITTERS works great as a fun throwback to the alien invader monster movies of yesteryear.

New Lines attempt to cash in on Gremlins doesnt try to be any more than an enjoyable, slightly campy B Movie. Sadly it never seems to strike the right balance between comedy and horror with misplaced slapstick ruining a film that showed some genuine promise The sort of film Larry Cohen made a career of in the 80s. If it had been given to a director on his level it could well have been a minor hit. It still managed to spawn 3 sequels, each more craptastic that the last. I gave it an extra half star for featuring Billy Zane ( with ponytail) getting eaten to death in the only on screen kill in the film.

Although loved by many, Critters isn't really anything more than a cheesy 80s film. It is often cited as a Gremlins rip-off and you can see why. But the reason Gremlins is a better film is that it balanced the human characters and the monster characters perfectly. Everyone was entertaining and interesting. This film focus mostly on the human who are all pretty boring and it just makes you want to wish the critters devour them all instead. The critters however don't really get much screen time. They are pretty well-designed though and I love good old animatronic puppets. Highlights include one of the Critters biting the head off of stuffed E.T and the subtitles shown during the "They have…

Incredible tacky 80's 'children's horror'. Only worth a watch if you're interested in seeing a young Leo being attacked by tiny little demon creatures.
