Crows Zero II
2009 ‘Kurôzu Zero II’ Directed by Takashi Miike
Synopsis
Genji and his victorious G.P.S. alliance find themselves facing down a new challenge by the students of Hosen Academy, feared by everyone as 'The Army of Killers.' The two schools, in fact, have a history of bad blood between them. And the simmering embers of hatred are about to flare up again, burning away any last remnants of the truce they had so rigorously observed until now.

Takashi Miike is one of my current favorite directors. Ichi the Killer really got me hooked... now 47 Miike films later i still am.
However, since his somewhat claim to worldfame with 'Sukiyaki Western Django' I think all of the films, that i've seen, have been a let down (2007 and forward obviously). Sure 13 Assassins was ok, but very restrained for a Miike film also bleak and modern looking compared to classic samurai cinema (as that is what i think it should be compared to).
Kind of a mindless rant, but i keep having this thoughprocess every single time I watch one of his later films. I think it's a shame! (But everytime i hope for return to former glory...)

even better than the first one. cool factor 20/10!!! or infinite/infinite, hah. people will say: 'they fight all the time and they are a bit gay and script is silly.' but I say bring it on!!! I laugh in the face of movie snobs. TAMAOOOOOOO!!!

Picking up where the first film left off, Genji is the new leader of Suzuran Boys High School, but faces a new threat from Hosen Academy, who want payback after their leader was stabbed to death two years earlier by a former Suzuran student. Genji must unite the factions within Suzuran ready for a battle royale. If you enjoyed Crows Zero then you'll like the sequel; virtually all the main characters return, and although it sags in the middle section, the extended fight scene at the film's finale more than makes up for it. The production values are glossier too.
