At some point after watching this I got sick. It was likely from drinking too much, but I still think the CGI grotesque oddity that is this film is more to blame.
I haven't seen this but at the time it came out I was working as a box office analyst so every studio e-mailed me box office reports on Sunday mornings. Freestyle Releasing sent in the dismal opening weekend numbers for this movie and then the President of the company accidentally replied all and said, "Now we don't have to talk about this piece of shit ever again."
And nobody ever did.
Really cool that they made a feature film from one of the fantasy stories I wrote when I was 11 years old in a 4-page word document in Copperplate Gothic font
Repulsive to look at and disgusting to listen to. Not going to get into the specifics, but pretty fucked up how so many of these characters and their historical backgrounds are allegories for class division, border patrol, ethnocentrism, and any other term you can think of about one group oppressing another or believing their values to be better than other cultures. I’m glad this movie was a failure to the point of being put out of item misery. Lost in the realm of hell it belongs it. Also, fair skinned fairies? The prototype of Zootopia.
i own a dvd of this film. i am the owner and sole moderator of r/Delgo. i still haven't seen it all the way through; i fall asleep every time. 5 stars.
Out of pure curiosity, I decided to check out what WAS known to be the movie with the worst opening weekend in over 2000 theaters. It's now second, with The Oogieloves taking the top spot, and just like the former, it's absolute garbage.
Unappealing character designs, with even uglier animation, dull, rehashed and reheated storylines and character beats, and uninspired voice acting. There's a DAMN good reason why this failed and is forgotten.
www.delgo.com/ <-- super cool website. run it in ruffle because it's a dead flash website. this way you can see the character design carousel on the left side of the page. i found the Delgo team contact information on here. you can contact various representatives at [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected]. my friend tried to email [email protected] to troubleshoot delgo.com website issues (subject line: Delgo Problems) but the message failed to send so it's probably an inactive email. the 5 other delgo.com addresses could work though.
i also looked up the Atlanta address where the Delgo animation studio is supposedly housed at and couldn't find their (probably defunct) studio. i did find a place called "Delgado Law Firm" --…
on one hand, its delgo, on the other hand, its delgo. overally, im thinking its delgo.
