Before Quentin Tarantino finally laid the 80s to rest with a barrage of new wave violence (Pulp Fiction, True Romance, Reservoir Dogs, Natural Born Killers) it had one final hurrah in the form of Demolition Man. It's one of the most typical 80s movies ever made, albeit 4 years late, with both hero and villain quipping back and forth like one-liners are going out of fashion. Given that it is a typical 80s movie it's too lightweight and the potential for taking to another level fade away after Wesley Snipes' dramatic debut in the future. Given the enormous potential it's such a fucking disappointment [BEEEP; Arnold Furious you are fined one credit for violation of the verbal morality statute]

Why the hell didn't I love this movie the first time? I liked it enough, but maybe thanks to my newfound love for Wesley Snipes helped me love this unashamedly cheesy, funny, satiric and fun film. Stallone and Snipes are perfect for this kind of thing, and surprisingly Sandra Bullock is not only unannoying, but actually quite good and likeable.
This is near perfect entertainment.

Haven't seen this one in ages, easily one of Stallone's top five films. Pretty decent sci-fi story, good action, great chemistry between Snipes and Stallone, Sandra Bullock was ugly in this, Denis Leary is still fucking god, I hate Taco Bell, The Batman Forever Score.
It's a great 90's action film. Hard to realize this came out twenty years ago.

We elect presidents, leaders and ministers who run on the ideal of attaining a perfect tomorrow where crime and war cease to exist, where we live in a harmonious, peaceful society with our fellow man.
Demolition Man will make you pray that day never comes.

Esta película definió un poco mi niñez, divertida, llena de acción, balazos y la idea que la ciencia ficción son trajes hechos de caucho.

This aci-fi action film is by Marco Brambilla, and stars Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes. Sandra Bullock, Nigel Hawthorne, and Denis Leary.
The film tells the story of two men; dangerous criminal Simon Phoenix (Snipes); the other, reckless police officer John Spartan (Stallone) —who are cryogenically frozen in the year 1996 after a hostage rescue mission goes wrong thanks to both their destructive and careless actions. During a police hearing in 2032. in the newly established city of San Angeles, in which all crime has seemingly been eliminated from mainstream society, Phoenix escapes and begins to wreak havoc across the city against a police state who are not trained for such violent crime. The SAPD decide to thaw out Spartan to…

Still as funny and awesome as ever. Weirdly enough, the best parts of the film are the NON-action parts -- the action seems to drag in comparison, even in spite of Snipes's best attempts to ham it up. I guess that's what happens when you have a scenario and script this good.

Ex cop Stallone is sprung after 36 years of deep-freeze imprisonment for manslaughter when blonde psychopath Snipes ( his long ago nemesis, Simon Phoenix) escapes from his own imposed exile. The joke is the San Angeles of 2032 is a pacifistic society that nixes violence and profanity and where every restaurant is a Pizza Hut.
Why oh why did I not love this the first time I watched it, it has taken me 20 years and another viewing to realise this is a classic. Far superior to the usual run of the mill action movies from the 90s and comparable to quality satires such as Starship troopers and Robocop. Worth it just for the Schwarzenegger being president joke. Well before its time.
So many one liners and quotes are in this movie and it still never explained the three shells -
Dorky as all hell, but actually a bit underrated. Snipes is fantastic in this role, and really makes the movie memorable.

I quite enjoyed it.
The first DVD I ever watched. -
It's a pity this film wasn't directed by John Woo, Paul Verhoeven or even John McTiernan as it did have the potential to be something greater than it is with a stronger, more distinct director. As it is it's enjoyable enough and appreciatively has its tongue-in-cheek, although the almost constant attempts at one-liners grows wary after a while. Stallone and Snipes make good foils for each other and Bullock is charming. Sting's song over the closing credits is dreadful.

Decent action movie with some fun sequences from Snipes. Most of the futuristic stuff is pretty lame.
