Oh hey special features; let's hear what Stephen King has to say about this movie:
"It's gonna do for the toilet what PSYCHO did for the shower."
Uhhhhh, sure pal. If you say so.

Ok, so the book was pretty bad, but that's no excuse to make the film even worse.

Watched this for the first time since its release ten years ago and finished it with a head-scratching and echoing, "Huh!?"
It's handsomely produced but there is too many ideas floating around with zero of them fully developed and when the poo aliens made an exit from a fat mans ass and rips the face off Jason Lee I knew there wasn't much hope. Oh, the ginger fella from Homeland being extremely annoying didn't help.
An unfortunately confused mess and a missed opportunity.

Pretty much getting a star for technical prowess alone, this is a bizarre mess of a film with a screenplay which seems to make even the most crazy on the page concepts into borderline incoherent on-screen material. Damien Lewis is saddled with an awful stylistic tic to his character who only gets worse as the film goes on, the concept of "shit weasels" is made worse by being used for comedic material, something which doesn't need pointing out any more in how silly it is and the plot feels like a Stephen King cheese dream in just the amount of random curveballs thrown in there almost constantly. A trainwreck but an admittedly interesting one.

This is an extremely odd movie. On the one hand, it's clearly terrible. It's ridiculously overstuffed with plot and characters, and most of what happens is exceptionally stupid. On the other hand, there's really nothing else quite like this thing, it's certainly never boring, and it's got a great cast (plus Donny Wahlberg). I would never say that this is a good movie, but it's certainly a watchable one.

This Stephen king adaptation is truly a mixed bag of great, decent and bad which is sad because it had potential to just be plain great. Though I've never read the "Dreamcatcher" novel, I have the feeling that this film tried to stay too true to it and that lead to some of the bad aspects. Reading something and drawing your own picture of it in your mind can sometimes be better than actually watching it happen. I think that was the problem here. But, behind some of the goofy imagery and story lines there was a good story about friendship and alien invasion. This film felt a lot like "IT" at times which I liked. All in all, I enjoyed this film and it's not nearly as bad as people have told me it was.

For the first half hour, this isn’t bad. A nice camaraderie is established between the main characters. Unfortunately, it remains faithful to the convoluted mess of a book it’s based on, but at least the movie only takes two hours to get through, and it’s watchable. The creatures are very well designed.
So-bad-it's-good rating: three and a half stars

It has moments where its really interesting, an the plot seems to be going somewhere. Then it hits a fork in the road an suddenly goes somewhere else.
Has moments that are brilliant, but overall seems to many ideas none of which gel at all together. Which is a shame, as visually this is a beautiful looking film. The snowy forests scapes especially look very pretty.Mess of a film, but least its kinda pretty

Miserable, even for a movie containing the splendor of shit-monsters.

Sin duda alguna lo mejor de esta película fue el corto de Animatrix que echaron antes, y por el que fuimos a ver esta cosa. Por momentos se vuelve comedia, otros drama y a ratos deseas una lobotomía parcial.

Dreamcatcher is a film of impenetrable weirdness, wholly unpredictable and outlandish in every way. It’s entirely possible that director Lawrence Kasdan intended the film to be a self-referential genre-busting satire, but we can never really be sure; the elements of such an approach are there, but the execution is way off target. It is an entirely beguiling experience to watch a film that is so close to pulling something interesting off, all the while making you question whether or not the film is actually trying to do what you think it’s trying to do. Clearly there is twisted ambition at work: the film’s unwavering commitment to its own fractured vision is always evident. With the standard signifiers either missing or…

A great cast with an honorable retelling of a Stephen King story. The entire cast sets the right tone in this one and even when it gets weird its believable. Seems a lot of King books suffer when they try to translate them into a movie. There is an almost lyrical believing in the power of friendship that appears in many of his books that movies have a hard time with – it works here.
