Being a former student of art and design (from product, architecture, film, etc.), it was easy to become an Eames fan many years ago. I enjoyed the format of this documentary. I found the personal story of Charles and Ray Eames quite interesting and learned a few new things about their process, which was very unconventional for the time period. Someday, I'll own the Eames Lounge Chair!

I was surprised then saddened to learn that Charles Eames was a womanizer. And also surprised to learn that their legacy ended on a bison, and that thankfully no one really remembers or cares anyways.

Once you see an Eames chair, you'll never stop seeing them!
Learning a great deal about Charles & Ray through my University course, I was unaware of how fun and colourful their career was. I loved seeing inside their studio as well as their kooky and ingenious minds. A must see for all design enthusiasts.

Wow... a looot I didn't know about them. So good and so scary to see how real masters, artists and geniuses just go for it. nearly fearless pushing for the limit.

I fell asleep watching this film. The first time I tried as well as the second time I tried. They could've done so much better.

An analysis of a couple that ran an operation that resembles both the past and present. The film is above all honest in its tone and content. Even without instilling passion, the film has several gems of wisdom and design theses from both Eames and the interviewed designers/artists/etc.
I found it interesting how many of the virtues and aesthetic styles (including typography) from the Eames era have come back in fashion. The Eames corporation also reminds me of early Apple Inc. A collective of forward-thinking individuals with modernist ideals producing landmark mixtures of design and art with processes intametely linked to advertising and branding, working overtime to please a man of great ego.

An enthralling documentary (well edited, good interviews, rare footage) about two very enthralling people. Even for fans of Eames Design, this is a revealing and informative documentary. The insight into the relationship between Charles and Ray Eames is remarkable (and a bit sad) as well. If you have an interest in design, architecture, modern art, or simply American history, there's much to like here.

An in-depth, yet well-paced documentary on the life and work of the Eames. This film stretches the length of their careers from the 40s-70s through archival footage and present-day interviews. Surprisingly it even unbiasedly touches on Charles Eames' flaws and personal life outside of Ray.

The ethos of this documentary mirrors that of the Eames studio: built on a sense of playfully serious curiosity and a love of invention. I knew nothing of Ray Eames and little about Charles and his work (beyond being a chair designer) going in, and found this peppy treatment to be informative and fun. Next I would love to see a full documentary on this fascinating artistic marriage itself.

Eames: The Architect and the Painter, “narrated by James Franco.” What the hell hasn’t that guy done?
