Why does this film get so much crap? It's not faithful to the book, and there are plot holes everywhere, but it's still an enjoyable comic book movie. Even at it's worst, it's still better than Daredevil, but then again I can't stand looking at Ben Affleck's face, so that might have something to do with it as well.
I do think they could have done a better job showing her as an assassin. She just killed a couple people, then turned into a big softie. The intro made her seem like Leon The Professional, but we never really get to see her in action. She does fine against the random Hand ninjas, but when she comes up against anyone… -
There's quite a fun scene where Cleavage (Jennifer Garner) stops Goran Ivanisovic and his daughter from being murdered. The rest of it is either incredibly boring, completely incomprehensible or hilariously stupid (there's a henchman with tattoes that turn into animals and attack people, Boobs has flashbacks to quite a difficult swimming lesson, and Terence Stamp is in it looking like a sunburnt lion) and it has some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard. The baddie genuinely stops in the climactic fight to say: "There is nothing you can do - and so the balance tips to me." Ooh, zinger.

Greg's Comic Book & Graphic Novel Challenge
Movie #2
So from the Marvel Universe comes Elektra. I have had this movie in my DVD collection for quite a few years and because of the negativity surrounding this one I haven't put it on until now.
Yes its not great and for me not once did this feel like it was adapted from a comic book. It had the Marvel logo at the start but nothing about this film screamed Comic book. That's not to say I didn't like it because it was okay.
I really dug Jennifer Garner as Elektra in the DareDevil movie but in this one she really didn't seem like she was playing the same character. The only time the character really felt real was at the end of the movie
The fight scenes and visuals were really good and I really enjoyed them.
Overall for me, not bad but could have been sooo much better.

Part of the Ultimate Marvel Movie Marathon:
letterboxd.com/evileyeperry/list/the-ultimate-marvel-avengers-movie-marathon/Oh dear. Fans complained about a lack of care when Daredevil hit the big screen, they longed for something darker and more in keeping with the tone of the Miller comics that they loved so much.
I didn't actually mind Daredevil, but Elektra manages to make all the same mistakes in terms of tone and content and comes out all the worse for it.Taking characters which aren't as interesting, a plot which isn't as engaging and action sequences which aren't as good and making them the sum of all parts of this 90 minute movie, it was never going to end well in this spin-off based solely on Frank Miller's character.…

Despite it being horribly unpopular and only remembered for its association with Daredevil, I actually do like this film. It's cheesy, it doesn't really know what it wants to be about and the script is in dire need of a couple good rewrites, but it still outdoes the inferior Daredevil movie for one fantastic reason: it is the closest thing to a live-action remake of Ninja Scroll we may ever get. It's hard not to notice the plagiarism and the more it rips off of Ninja Scroll. the more fun the film is.

I was hoping this would be better than Daredevil. I was hoping it would mention Daredevil. No on both counts. Sadly, I sat there mostly bored through the whole thing and wondering when it would really get more action-packed and less predictable. It just didn't do anything for me.

Awful. Poor Terence Stamp.

2.0/10
Though Elektra wasn't boring and featured interesting visuals, it was too incompetently directed, written and performed to be taken seriously. Both the plot and the characters were too sloppy, so far as to make the film a nearly unbearable mess. What a dreadful joke this movie is compared to most Marvel films.

An interesting follow-up to Daredevil with great effects and an interesting story. While Garner is solid in the acting department – she lacks the physical power the part called for. Still this is a lot of fun to watch.

I rewatched this cause my bro had it on.
I shouldn't have rewatched this.
Terrible, terrible script. Such a bummer.
