Me for 10% of the movie= "What the fuck is going on?"
Me for 90% of the movie= "Holy shit! This is fucking awesome!"
Imagine if Die Hard, Speed, and Michael Bay got together, went to Bollywood, and did crystal meth. You get one of the most insane action films ever made.

I cannot understand what Indian people see in the dancing and singing passages in all those Bollywood productions. In this case, in a story built up around a robot, those sequences are nothing but ridiculous - as are as well most of the over-ambitious special effects.
But nevertheless I was fascinated by the sheer number of great and unique ideas. And without the lack of knowledge(?) and budget some of those action-sequences would outrun all of Michael-Bay-Effect-Porn Transformers.
Even then the storylines could have used some trimming, because three hours are way too much time to be filled with these little storys. Although the ending came abruptly and was imo quite contrary to the rest of the whole very rushed.

I have a reasonably broad knowledge when it comes to film but I am sadly ignorant of Bollywood cinema. I have tried throughout the years to appreciate its charms but I always struggle to warm to it. The films tend to either be too long or unbearably cheesy; Endhiran is both.
It’s essentially three separate films rolled into one which helps explain the long running time and uneven tone. You’ve got a story about a robot trying to become human, an epic action movie and a more traditional romantic musical. The film’s schizophrenic tone is both a curse and a blessing because whilst it helps keep it interesting it never really settles. The film does have several amusing moments, some…

Imaging a Michael Bay film on Cocaine + Heroin + Story + Music...that is Endhiran!
CRAZY, CRAZY and CRAZY.... but I really enjoyed it.
It has everything; action, drama, romance, sci-fi, music, dance, robots, and CRAZY CGI!!!!
A guilt pleasure.

Quite possibly one of the best films ever made. My copy has been borrowed far more than anything else in my library.

Entertaining, funny, loooong. Fascinating from a cultural perspective. Some really crazy sfx concepts (like the robot snake). I still like the director of Eega's stuff better.

This movie blew me away. So much fun.

This is the kind of spectacle American action films keep attempting and mucking up wholesale. Then again, I'm a sucker for totally random musical sequences. India might actually make all of my favorite movies.

What would have been a rote, sappy science fiction story in Hollywood becomes an over the top, inexplicable spectacle in the usual Bollywood fashion. The last half hour is a must-see for action lovers. What kept me from completely loving the film was the songs, though. Most of them fell flat. I'm wondering if this is because we watched the Hindi language version instead of the original Tamil?

Cine Indio, why you so crazy.

Dumber than a bag of hammers, but you guessed that. Surprising watchable for its near-three hour running time, despite or because of the fact that it changes tone and genre every ten minutes or less. (The action clips that have cycled the Internet are only one very small part of a film that also features love triangles, zany robot antics, songs, international terrorists, courtroom drama, and pretty much everything else this side of Dziga Vertov-era Godard.) Recommended to those who find disorientation and stupidity an enjoyable part of their movie watching experience; otherwise, deduct two stars.

This is not quite the typical Indian film-making. First it's not a Bollywood film, it's a Tollywood film. The language is Tamil and it was filmed in Chennai (vs. Hindi films made in Mumbai.) If you're watching without subtitles there's enough English phrases peppered throughout...and if you watch from the beginning, you'll understand what's going on.
The special effects here are pretty good as one actor plays two roles and these two characters appear together in much of the movie. The action sequences (especially one near the end involving a Mercedes) are quite good, although a tad over-the-top. Of course a lot of American movies have over-the-top action sequences, too.
As with most Indian movies, this one is broken up by song and dance numbers. Mostly large affairs with lots of dancers.
For fans of action films, Indian films or Indian culture in general.
