Fairly terrible.
But the many twists make it bearable.
INTERESTING FACT: Dodi Fayed wrote the screenplay. I am yet to determine if he did so before or after his death...

We watched F/X (1986) for the first time in at least 20 years. Fun movie, really good actually. Great cast and smart script. I love the presence of Tom Noonan in an eartly "fart catcher" (great word from the great Lance Henriksen). The main characters, played by Bryan Brown and Brian Dennehy is probably the most perfect casting I've ever seen. It's also a lot more violent than I remember it to be, which is great. Thereäs no meaning watching kids movies. Another fun thing was to hear Imagination's awesome, cheesy mega-hit Just An Illusion again!

The idea of a special effects guy being the main character in an 80s action is a good idea, heck it's a great idea. Unfortunately, F/X never delivers on the great concept it promises. None of the effects used as weapons against the baddies are really that interesting. The characters aren't that interesting either, and neither is the story really. I guess the perfect way to sum up F/X is that it just isn't that interesting. Make the effects better, the characters better, and the story better, and then I'll get interested.

I love this film, I think it is the idea of seeing the special effects of the movie world applied in "real" situations. Yes it is very extreme and Rollie Tyler goes from innocent to hero a bit too quickly and Leo is a little to smart but it all works together and comes through as an exciting crime thriller.
If you have never seen it give it a go a very enjoyable film.

This film has not aged well. The problem with making a film about special effects is that one day they will become outdated. The story is not very interesting, but the special effects keep things slightly interesting. This was great in it's day, but now seems a bit pants. I would have given this film 5 stars when I was 12, it gets three stars from me as an adult.

A perfect mix between The Fugitive and Home Alone!
The script was very half-assed with plot holes everywhere. Besides that I thought F/X had a few pretty fun scenes with the car chase and the home alone-esque scene standing out.

This surprised me. I didn't quite expect it to be this entertaining.

A childhood favorite. The sequel is better because it has Bryan Brown and Brian Dennehy working together from the start. That, and a robotic clown. Still, this one is enjoyable.
