Fargo
1996 Directed by Joel Coen, Ethan Coen
Synopsis
A lot can happen in the middle of nowhere.
Jerry, a small-town Minnesota car salesman is bursting at the seams with debt... but he's got a plan. He's going to hire two thugs to kidnap his wife in a scheme to collect a hefty ransom from his wealthy father-in-law. It's going to be a snap and nobody's going to get hurt... until people start dying. Enter Police Chief Marge, a coffee-drinking, parka-wearing - and extremely pregnant - investigator who'll stop at nothing to get her man. And if you think her small-time investigative skills will give the crooks a run for their ransom... you betcha!

So, Fargo, it was a pretty good movie?
Oh yah, you're darned tootin'!And Steve Buscemi?
Well the little guy was kinda funny looking. But it was some of the best you've seen from him?

Fargo is a great piece of a movie!
A mixture of crime and dark humour with an engaging screenplay, good cinematography, good score, clever and funny dialogues and amazing performances, especially from Frances McDormand and William H. Macy. The two were quite brilliant! Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare as the idiot and the psychopath kidnappers were also great.

I decided to watch the director of photography commentary on this watch. This is a beautiful movie and there's no surprise that there's a director of photography commentary for it. I've got to say though, it wasn't quite as interesting as I thought it would be, but it is still worth a listen if you are into learning how shots are done and hear interesting stories about how scenes came to be. What was really annoying was that he would go for entire minutes without saying anything. I would think there's enough information that he could spend the entire movie talking about one scene if he wanted, but he wasn't able to contribute as much as I would have liked.

Based on a true story? Joel and Ethan, you are (in your own, highly eloquent words)...F**KING liars.

"The heck ya mean?"
God I love this film. Love it.
I remember hearing about this way back in the late '90s. I don't recall what I heard but I do remember being slightly interested but mostly indifferent since it sounded like it wasn't action packed enough for a young child's taste. Also, I remember thinking that this was about a Postal Service worker--Marge's hat still reminds me of a Postal Worker for some reason.
Now, years later, I'm older and have seen this at least 5 times, and I think it is simply outstanding. What may have bored me when I was a dumb youth greatly entertains me as a more seasoned film connoisseur.

I've always felt that the best thing about the Coen Brothers is their dialogue. Whether it be the infinitely quotable The Big Lebowski, the screwball Raising Arizona, or the dark Man Who Wasn't There, there's something about the Coens' scripts that is almost always fresh and unique, and obviously Fargo is no exception.
Starring William H Macy as a down and out car salesmen who hires two men to kidnap his wife so he can get ransom money out of his wealthy father in law, Fargo's story really gets going when the two men kill an officer and two witnesses while on the way to the kidnapping. From then on, Fargo snowballs into a wild and wacky dark comedy, with…

Que filme!! Atuações sensacionais, direção absurda, no melhor estilo Coen.

For me, there are only a few perfect movies. FARGO is one of them.

Great story, but somehow I didn't really enjoy watching it.
A lot of moments were just pathetic. However, for instance, I considered Funnyface with his parking affairs rather funny.
The problem I had with this movie is that it has no soul. It has no character. The genre wasn't really drama, it wasn't really comedy nor crime. Resulting in a phenomenal genre which I call forced. Just another movie that forces different tastes at you that hold no interrelations. It somehow just doesn't connect to the story. There is no tension feeling as you are watching the movie.
Which was disappointing. Maybe I'm just rambling and this is just not my kind of movie, but I highly suggest that it simply fails at combining genres. I rate it 2/5, which I signify as "Alright".

The acting, direction and story are all great...I think it is just the dark humor and human nature of the film that keeps me from being able to enjoy the film as much as I should.

"You're a .... f---uck---ing LIAR sir!" - I love how true to life these mid-westerners are. So hard for them to actually curse and be angry.
