The best Shrek-related film since Shrek 2, if not the original Shrek. Funny and well-animated with great voice performances and an incredible soundtrack.

Being a Shrek spin-off you would expect it to be more imaginative than it was. Still has some really funny moments involving things that every cat does.

Rewatched with family. Still just OK - there's some cute animation and the story's fun, but overall it's just not original and exciting enough. Doesn't hold up to the first two Shreks.

It's forgettable and feels like just a filler movie from DreamWorks, Puss In Boots does prove that the best thing to happen to the Shrek franchise is strong enough to hold his own film, with plenty of charm to spare, awesome visuals and a great vocal performance from Antonio Banderas as the titular character.

"Miller's film sadly stands for much of DreamWorks' animated output of late: at times nice to look at, and a few good ideas scattered throughout, but with absolutely nothing of substance or heart underneath". Read my full review of Puss In Boots at Film Intel

It was fine. Not great, not bad. Just fine.

I was waiting for the other shoe (boot?) to drop, but Kitty Softpaws doesn't randomly get turned into a damsel in distress for no reason at the film's climax like often seems to happen with generically formidable female characters, so that's a definite plus.

If you're looking for a Shrek 1 or Shrek 2 level of humor, you're going to be pretty disappointed because this film plays everything pretty much straight. It's not bad, but there's no way this would've been nominated for an Oscar in a stronger year.

This is more like it! "Puss in Boots" removes all the flaws of the last two and as a result, we get a fun family friendly adventure that is the best in the series since "Shrek 2" This film is basically the origin story of the character of Puss in Boots. I was obvious that due to the character's popularity that he would get a movie, much like the Penguins of Madagascar. There is a lot to Puss' backstory that…
