A remake of the James Stewart starring 1965 original, this is a decent disaster film with a couple of stand out performances from the lead stars.
Dennis Quaid is the big name star playing the pilot of a plane that crashes in the Gobi Desert carrying oil workers back home. A disaster film that is a carbon copy of Stewart's earlier effort, this has a creepily manic performance from Giovanni Ribisi.
When their plane crashes into the desert during a sandstorm a small group of oil workers set about surviving until rescue. As time passes and no sign of help arrives, the group are forced to face the fact they are on their own. Three hundred miles from safety and stuck in…

I really enjoyed this, far more than expected. The performances are great, there's a lot of tension and the way they play with the sound adds to that tension brilliantly. Highly recommended!

This film helped pass an hour and a half or so after finishing work one afternoon. Not much was expected of it however I thought it looked interesting after catching a few minutes when it was on tv the other day.
Dennis Quaid plays an airline Pilot flying for an oil drilling company in the Gobi Desert. After closing down an unsuccessful drilling operation it is his job to fly its members out of the desert. Cut a long story short plane takes off, huge sandstorm, plane crashes way off course and with no means of sending a Mayday call! Stranded with no hope of rescue a mysterious passenger puts forward the idea that the crew perform their own rescue…

Not seen the original but hopefully it's an improvement on this, uneven in tone and a strange soundtrack make it a peculiar watch. Sort of wanted them all to die.
