I've always been interested in what other people are seeing and watching, and naturally, I love looking at Weekend Box…
This February True Love Takes a Dive.
Charming but luckless treasure hunter Ben Finnegan has sacrificed his relationship with his wife to search for the Queen's Dowry, a legendary treasure lost at sea. But the discovery of a new clue rekindles his hope for riches -- and his marriage.
I was hoping to see a modernized version of "Romancing The Stone" and I liked both Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey on the silly but charming "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" but how wrong I was with this one. "Fool's Gold" lacks everything you'd think is essential in a would-be summer blockbuster; humor, suspense, fun, interpersonal chemistry, kinetic action sequences.
It's talky, inert and essentially plot-less. No wonder that severely limited comedic actress Kate Hudson earned herself a nomination for a Razzie Award as Worst Actress for her participation in this dreck and the slightly worse, "My Best Friend's Girl".
The whole project seems like a excuse for everyone involved getting a nice vacation in Australia and the Key West.
Ich weiß, dass ihn viele nicht mögen, aber das ist der erste Film, den ich mit meiner Frau zusammen im Kino gesehen habe und es wird immer der Film sein, den wir lachen zusammen anschauen. ;)
I just loved this. It’s an adventure movie with everything … romance, comedy, action, a great sound track, and what a cast! Donald Sutherland plays the reclusive billionnaire on his yacht to a tee, Alexis Dziena is perfect as his ditzy daughter, and the leads by Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson are superb. Great chemistry. It’s a treasure hunt with a little edge and a lot of flirtation. Beautiful scenery (Australia made to look like the Caribbean). All the heavies are hilarious, too. And did I mention some great stuntwork to boot? See it, by all means. It’s totally fun.
I've watched it a bunch of times but only because I bought it because it was $5. Pretty good.
Very entertaining but also so very bad at the same time...
Just goes to show how far Matthew has come.
There's nothing there.
Was on TV and ended up watching it. I'll be honest it's not the fits time either. Yeah it's not great, but I ain't ashamed to say that I kind of enjoyed it.
Fool's Gold had the potential of being a good comedy film, but the problem with the film is that it's bloated with overused clichés from previous comedies, thus everything you'd expect that will happen, happens. I thought that the film started off well enough to be a good, fun comedy film. However, halfway through the film, the film falls apart, and due to a somewhat lacking cast, the film doesn't deliver. There's some good actors in this film, but they are miscast, and really don't cut in their respective parts. I think Fool's Gold fails at delivering anything good, and it's a shame because the film had the potential of being a good comedy. Like I stated previously, Fool's Gold…
