Franklyn is an underrated, complicated and imaginative story following four seemingly very separate characters from four very different backgrounds. As time goes by we soon find out they are more linked than we were originally led to believe. I won’t delve into the story as the characters are many and the story quite complex. On first viewing the cuts between the four stories are a little frustrating and almost jarring in places, but as more of your questions are answered and links appear, you will be left feeling it was all very worth while. The sheer volume of characters did leave some unanswered questions that left me feeling like the film was slightly unfinished but on my second viewing my…

This a dark film that follows the path of four people with different degrees of mental deficiencies until they meet for a final climatic and satisfying ending. The sets and costumes of meanwhile city are brilliant, although I would have preferred the mask to have shown a bit more facial expression, to connect the Priest a little more. The stories unravel nicely with little clues along the way to subtly signpost the our way back to sanity.

Apparently this is "the story of four lost souls in a futuristic London society where there is no separation between Church and State." Sounds interesting, eh? I didn't even finish watching it to know how it turned out. It was dull.

Pretty loose, all in all, doesn't tie together well at all, the end ain't worth the wait.

A trippy film, yet its twist at the end felt more like a gimmick that has been done before, and as fresh as it held felt building up to it, I was little let down by it. Yet, it does make you want to watch it a second time to fit the pieces together. The visuals are terrific (combining sci-fi, fantasy, and a hint of noir) and its style and flair is apparent. Eva Green and Sam Riley are both great here.

Split narrative following four characters. One a depressed young woman who fakes a suicide to get attention from her mother, one a father looking for his son, one a young man who has just been jilted at the alter all set in London and one a mysterious hooded man in a Gothic city called 'Meanwhile' looking to assassinate a cult leader.
Interesting début, some stuff I liked and some stuff not so much. Needless to say the four narratives all find a way to wrap up within one another and affect each other.
Unfortunately for the film 1/2 of the narrative was interesting and really quite well done while the other 1/2 was really a bit plain. The parts in…

I always fall for movies that mix fantasy and reality. On top of that Franklyn was quite rewarding.

Loved the trailer for this and couldn't wait to see it. Colour me disappointed.
