Leave it to the talented Taraji P. Henson to make any film she's in worth watching.

“Because of YOU! And your work work work and your join the rat race!”
The big loser of the movie was my dad, who suggested we watch this.
This was quite good! I only watched for Taraji P. Henson but then ended up enjoying the whole movie for the most part. She, as always, was amazing.
OK, so this film hits every single sports film trope. It's the classic story of a group of loveable misfits and a coach who inspires them to be something greater. It is somewhat predictable, down to one character ending up in the hospital during the big final tournament.
But that's ok, because this movie had a lot of heart. It was really earnest, and it was wholesome, and it actually made me like golf? It also dealt with race in an honest and open way.
Taraji P. Henson is really great in this, putting everything into Starks. Felton is pretty good as a cranky punky golfer from the UK. Michael Clarke Duncan is also great in one of his final roles.
It's a real shame this doesn't even have 200 views as of this review. I think it's an overlooked film that more people should check out if they can.
I think this deserves to be watched at least once. Not only does it show a strong woman in an environment where men lead and are the one getting recognition, but we also see a diversity of characters coming from different backgrounds growing accustomed to one another.
I love the fact that this comes from a real story. See a strong-willed woman such as Catana Starks in the lead made me smile. Women like that are not given the spotlight often enough, in my honest opinion. Yes, she got on my nerves at some point, but the fact is, that woman got my respect. She gets things done and don't take no for an answer.
The characters were great, complex…
