I like Diane Arbus's photographs, but I didn't like this portrayal of her, Kidman tries her best, it has it's moments, but we spens far too long going up and down stairs, and trying to work out if that's sexual tension in Downey's hair or just Frizz! you get a little glimpse into Arbus, but it's a very very very shallow exploration and you don't get to actually see her photographic work.

Definitely a gorgeous and twisted love story - This goes to my favs :)

The subjects of Diane Arbus's best-known photos are often grotesque, but like journalist Joseph Mitchell, who briefly befriended her (now that would have been a movie), her sensationalistic subjects were treated with an elegant matter-of-factness not touched by romance. Fur, on the other hand, treats the artist as a naif, trapped in gender conventions that are only escapable by one part Alice in Wonderland and two parts Beauty and the Magical Beastly Subject (i.e. Robert Downey Jr.).
Part of me finds this an interesting treatment of the artistic temperament; another finds it terribly patronizing to it, as if being open to creative thinking is simply a passive act and has nothing to do with…

While a fictitious story about the life of photographer Diane Arbus, it provides interesting insight into who she was. Beautifully performed by the astonishingly beautiful Nicole Kidman along with Robert Downey, Jr.

I think this movie is criminally overlooked and vastly underrated. Kidman and Downey, Jr. turn in two of the most moving, fascinating performances of their careers.
