A very special brand of shit.
Makes all the wrong choices.
One star for an evil henchman dance routine and for teaching me that if you drink strong liquor you can fuel a car by throwing up and pissing into its gas tank afterwards.

To examine a physical truth. How is Michael C Hall's song and dance sequence not in the all time greatest musical sequences ever? Pure bliss.

So this lies somewhere in-between the two CRANK movies on the 'how serious are Neveldine/Taylor with the unsavory elements of their films' question. That this film is a critique of violence and misogyny in culture, specifically the video game culture the CRANK films grew out of and appeal to, is obvious, which lends credence to the notion that CRANK 2's ridiculousness is meant to be self-critical. On the other hand, the heavy-handedness of the parody presented here would seem to indicate that if N/T wanted CRANK 2 to be satirical, they would have been much more obvious about it, as they seem to lack any interest in subtlety of any kind. It remains a subject for further study.

Michael C. Hall, Terry Crews, and some cool action scenes just barely save this bullshit.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen.

The balance of life is destroyed by consumerism, social Darwinism rules the land. Neveldine/Taylor present frenetic carnage in a techno reality.
Neveldine/Taylor's trademark is a man possessed, either figuratively (Crank) or literally (Ghost Rider), and in the case of Gamer, it's by a computer chip that enables others to control you in a first person shooter esque reality. Its exploitation is beyond cynicism and the satirical elements of the film take turns at being overt and covert.
The fat man who controls Kable's attractive wife in Society is a picture of the lazy media consumerist, lost in the future world where grand theft auto, first person shooter games and the films of tony scott have had an illegitimate child.

The visceral action and bits of cleverness (i.e., the kind of stuff I usually like) simply didn't excuse the many problems. I'll skip the list and just hit the big one: zero character development.

Wild, drug-induced videogame of a movie. N/T really bring the hyper-stylized gore & guns to a new level. Enjoyed the subtext too presciently looking into America's current love of drones.

Surprisingly decent. Visceral and violent.
