We're Ready To Believe You.
After losing their academic posts at a prestigious university, a team of parapsychologists goes into business as proton-pack-toting "ghostbusters" who exterminate ghouls, hobgoblins and supernatural pests of all stripes. Honestly, is there anything really WRONG with Ghostbusters?
As I started the 30 Countries Challenge I knew that a month of watching Foreign films each night with varying degrees of quality and lengthiness (ie: Love Exposure) would have to be backed up by "cool off" movies. Not that my list is torturous or anything...
But Ghostbusters is one of those great cool off movies.
There is a special place in American cinema for films like The Godfather, Taxi Driver or Vertigo but there is also a special little place reserved for films like Ghostbusters. Movies like this that are so undeniably fun and generate an aura of high spirits and good vibes. There is never a moment where you don't…

28 years old and it still feels like it's the first time I watched it. Truly timeless entertainment.
This is spawned from a gathering of creative minds that seem to have a limitless imagination and have created a wonderful alternate universe in which ghosts are normal and messed up deities the order of the day.
It is with youthful enthusiasm that each and every person involved seems to attack this film, thus producing a slice of stunning entertainment, brought with infatuating conviction. It is very difficult not to like this film.
It still looks fantastic, is absolutely hilarious and has one of the most exhilarating and stunning movie finales ever made.

I fully believe that I am not being the slightest bit over dramatic when I say that Ghostbusters, is one of the greatest, and most iconic films in the history of cinema.
If Ghostbusters did not exist, all of our lives would be that little bit worse off. And that is the sign of a truly wonderful thing.
A career high for ALL involved.
A MUST watch, and a MUST NOT hate.
I will leave you with the greatest speech in cinema history, delivered with impecable style and wit by the great Rick Moranis."Gozer the Traveler. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving…

This is one of my all time favourite films - Ghostbusters is a superb comedy caper starring a host of comedy greats including: Aykoyd, Ramis and of course the amazing Bill Murray. They are the GhostBusters: a bunch of University dropouts who go into business for themselves as paranormal investigators. Coincidentally New York quickly becomes a ghost hot spot and here begins the comedy carnage. It's ultimately quotable and an truly unforgettable film. It's well worth mentioning William Atherton as the fantastic and horrid creep of a health inspector - Walter Peck who causes the Ghostbusters no end of trouble. Quite simply, this film is fantastic - A must see.

Whoever came up with the Ghostbusters' logo was a logo-coming-up-with genius. A Scooby-Doo spook locked in a circle-backslash 'No' symbol: instantly iconic.
Ray Parker Jr's theme tune as well. I'm telling you, Christmas 1984 I received the Hits 1 tape (skill comp, btw) and me and my cousin played "Ghostbusters" repeatedly for ages. Play-stop-rewind-play. Play-stop-rewind-play. Over and over and over again, to the point where it became hilarious, and ridiculous that no-one came in and told us to stop playing that bloody song.
Anyway, it has been years since I last watched this and I wondered if it would hold up. At first, it seemed as if it was showing its age a little, and, even after a long time…

If anyone could see me watching this movie alone, it's like the saddest thing ever. I quote 75% of the lines as they're happening, I laugh like I haven't seen it five hundred million times, and I fist-pump more than once. This movie probably makes me happier than any other movie ever made.

Ghostbusters stands apart from the nostalgia and mythology and is actually a good movie.

The special effects of the '80s forced all kinds of decisions in directorial style, and usually for the better. Modern CGI lets you get away with kitchen-sink surrealism, but the planfulness required to execute GHOSTBUSTERS yields cleanly read Hollywood classicism. Being so grounded of course makes the yuks funnier, and I'd forgotten that this is perhaps the ne plus ultra of the slobs vs. snobs comedies.
Weaver cemented an image here and in the first two ALIEN movies that made her the screen queen for my generation -- amazing at translating thought to gesture, fearless in her willingness to grunt and froth (and wait spread-eagled for Rick Moranis' keymaster). All movie stars are conditioned to preserve their desirability to the…

The greatest film in the ghostbusting genre, by far.

Long time since i have seen the whole thing, only getting snippets of it when it's been on TV. Still holds up pretty good, and is entertaining as hell. I really would like them to get back together for a 3'rd installment.
