For a movie starring a man with down syndrome, this film did a great job of not patronizing mentally handicapped people. I also have to say, Evan Sneider was great in his role. He made the character seem real. His "girlfriend" Candy was beautiful and flawed. The ending was slightly disturbing though.
This was the perfect story for an indie film. I don't think it would have worked all glitzed and glamorized up. The only thing it could have used though was a stronger or at least a more prominent score. In parts of the film there was little dialogue, which is okay, but without a score, it sort of felt like just dead air.
All in all this was pretty decent for a first time director, and I certainly look forward to seeing more from Justin Lerner in the future.
How much did I like this? I was hooked from the moment Evan uttered his first words. He is simply magnificent in this film period. Very rarely do I ever connect with a character this much, but damn...I was taking every bump in the road with you. Woodward is equally amazing. You can certainly question the characters motivation & actions, but she owns this role. And say what you will, but you rarely ever see love this pure portrayed anywhere. This is 5 stars for me as I am shaken to my very core.
Didn't completely live up to my expectations, but it was good enough...
Felt a little too serious for it's own good yet somehow not serious enough to be taken completely serious (if that makes any sense whatsoever).
I prefer WHERE HOPE GROWS (2014) though, as far as indiedramacomedies dealing with a young man with Downs Syndromes goes.
Pleasantly surprised that this didn't go exactly where I expected it to. Even the writing. There was a lot of unexpected things said by everyone, especially the main character. The movie was also beautifully shot and edited. Surprisingly good.
I don't have a clue what this is about but it has girlfriend in the title so let me tell you about my girlfriend, she's really cool and awesome and she's super smart and pretty and she's really nice and cute and I I really like her a lot she's got an amazing personality and she's really funny and she's really good at gaming and I love the way she speaks and her laugh is adorable and the way she types is just really cute and she puts a big smile on my face :) B)
I was at the library with my friend as he was looking for some games to play over the weekend, I already had (and will always have) a long list of movies and shows I have to get through, I decided to see what they had today and I noticed this title.
From the title alone I figured it was the kind of movie I tend to gravitate to; lonesome guy finds girl movie. This is sort of that kind of movie and sort of not. It is quite a interesting film that is set in a pretty honest world with realistic characters.
The movie is about Evan (guy on the right in the poster), a young man who has…
