Stupid and fun Seagal flick. Highlights include Seagal being Russian and not even attempting a Russian accent. Plus Seagal sports a do-rag for most of the picture. I find that very amusing. Ja Rule is just ridiculous as a bad ass gangster. He's not believable at all and is just laughable. Oh and Nia Peeples looks really hot in this.

Em Portugal chamaram-lhe "Duro de Matar" e parolos como eu deixaram-se confundir pelo título "Duro de Roer", crássico do cinema de porrada dos anos noventa. Muito ruinzinho.

really a bad film, that is somehow elevated by a few of the choice character moments that come between a soon-to-be-executed prisoner, and seagal. the rest is pretty much okay at its best.

“Halb tot” ist unterhaltsame B-Ware mit gradliniger Action und einem sehr dünnen roten Storyfaden. Dabei ist es Steven Seagal, der hier zwar nicht überragend, aber doch überzeugend spielt und so den Film zu einer spaßigen Angelegenheit macht.

Hva er det sikreste tegnet på en suksessfull film? Er det dens fortjeneste? Kanskje det er antall besøkende på kino og antall solgte dvd utgaver som avgjør dette? Eller de prisene den mottar? Under Siege in a prison, basically. ... Yes. I know... Anyway... While it might not be one of Seagal's best, it's slicker than you expect it to be; and there is an attempt at making it more "interesting" than this type of movie tends to be. It's not entirely successful in its attempts, but at least it tries. And I can live with that. Highly recommended for people who love to see a lot of sparks in action movies.

A lot of people have given this a wide berth as it came out in that gamut of one Seagal release a week era.
However this is a solid Die Hard in prison style drama with the brilliant for name alone Morris Chesnut & Ja Rule. Features some exciting action including the assault from the helicopter thats crashed through the roof.
Good fun and worth checking out.
