Happy now, are we? You've finally done it. You've finally driven him loopy!
I like to call this book ~*CAPSLOCK HARRY.*~
Oh my God, from the first scene, Dudley's clothes, the dementor attack, Harry threatening Dudley with "a stick" that whole opening is FUCKING PERFECTION. Also THANK GOD EVERYONE GOT HAIR CUTS. When Harry and Dudley are running in the long grass and shit, you know this has (buzzword) GOT REALLY DARK for essentially a children's series.
Obviously the highlight of this film is the wonderfully horrid Umbridge, played to perfection by Imelda. I'm so glad they put so much thought into casting for her because the choice is perfect, spot on.
Lots of Dursley action which is a highlight…

I hate Dolores Umbridge.
There, I've said it. I don't hate Imelda Staunton. I think she does a fine job with an irritating character. I just wish there was another way to drive Harry Potter's gang underground and make them all edgy and dangerous. Dumbledore's Army is a fine idea but the film centres on Umbridge taking over Hogwarts and its unbearable.
Then she gets gang raped by minotaurs. And everybody starts magic-duelling the shit out of each other. The last 30 minutes is brilliant.

ok I LOVE Harry Potter..
no I mean I have read the books 8 times through ... and listened to them on audio book about 11 times through..
YEA I KNOW.....
for the most part Im completely happy with the films but this to me is that last of the series that doesn't fuck the story line completely.
This movie is also one of my favorites as well ....I cant begin to explaing my excitement and joy eachtime I Watch one of these becasue of the AMAZING job they do at casting all the characters, every one is exactly how imagine in my mind when Im reading the book ....this is also the film where I believe the(younger ) actors really start to shape and mold their acting abilities ...
also Deloris Umbridge should die.

Love the book, but watching this at times is like having the cruciatus curse performed on you. And that's mostly to do with Imelda Stenton's portrayal of Dolores Umbridge. You hate her in the book, you really fucking hate her in the movie. Makes every scene with her feel like you're being tortured for a crime you didn't even commit.
Last 30 minutes of this are fucking great though. Especially the fight between Voldemort and Dumbledore. The moment Voldemort breathes out the fire dragon gets me rock hard every time.

Another one of my absolute favourites from the saga. It's a testament to how well made this film is that David Yates could get the longest book down to become the shortest movie! - he does this with the magical method of montage. It's a fantastic book this one but let's face it - it contains a lot of reeeealy boring stuff, all wonderfully condensed down here in the old 'flying newspaper' montage, and it doesn't take away from the main story at all. Emelda Staunton is FANTASTIC as Umbridge, really plays her well as the nasty piece of work that she is. Both Umbridge and the Ministry of Magic are so well done here, exactly how I imagined it.…

From this film onwards the Harry potter franchise really comes into its own. In David Yates the potter films found a kindred spirit who has a talent for bringing the best out of his actors, an understanding of the visuals of the world of Harry potter and an ability to use a range of techniques to build tension and plot. People worried that this was the film where nothing was going to happen. David Yates proved them wrong by delivering the best potter movie up to this point. What is even more incredible is that every movie after this surpassed the last.
This loses half a star for bad CGI on grawp and the centaurs. With so much impressiveness on the visuals these were stand out low points.

David Yates takes over the series, and I think he really finds a good tone where the movies tart feeling more like a series. The overall story of this one seemed a bit silly to me, with no one believing that Voldermort was back and it seemed obvious to me that there were clear magical ways to explore Harry's memory for confirmation, so in that sense this movie felt like a detour from the actual story, meant to as filler to make the series bigger. The whole idea of McCarthyism in the magic world was interesting, but still feels like a side track.

One of the best Harry Potter films.

My second favorite film of the series so far. Much more dark and focused on its agenda, even though it occasionally feels bloated. Ending makes up for all of the previous mistakes.

Armies are cool.

Perhaps the weakest in the series, Order of the Phoenix is unfocused and confused. However, Imelda Staunton's deliciously evil Professor Umbridge is Oscar-worthy.
