Abysmal. If I didn't know better I'd suggest they intentionally made an awful film.

Great direction, cinematography, score, and lots of action. I think I'm in love with the star. I didn't know who she was before seeing this movie and I had no problem with her acting. I felt like she seemed very real and not an actor playing a role. The movie was entertaining and I always enjoy when a director lets the camera sit still and doesn't cut so quickly.

I screwed up by not watching this on the big screen, I really did. I usually don't care for the director, and even to this day this film gets wildly mixed reviews; apparently many out there hate it. The movie works for me, though. A rather simplistic plot and it's wacky how so many big names were involved in such a film, but it's something I happened to love, the action/fight scenes are pretty sweet, the final line was classic, and I thought the score rocked my world.

Fun movie, some odd but interesting decisions, like having all the chases be very stylized montages, but then when fighting starts the style is removed, it's all bare bones, no music, no complex angles, fairly straightforward raw fighting, not much to the story, but still it's engrossing.

Carono's trouble with casual dialogue and Soderbergh's annoying fascination with lense filters undermine a fine spy thriller. 6 C+

How elegant is director Steven Soderbergh! What a style! What aesthetic visuals!
-
Proof that amazing action sequences are the product of choreography, and physicality, and not shaky camera movements and fast cuts.

Gina Carano is so bad-ass it's unreal.
Haywire is a brilliantly paced and edgy spy thriller delicately snuggled into a semi-arthouse casing.
It's characters may be sporadic, but Soderbergh doesn't allow any room for extra breath in what is a class act in timing and direction.
How people found Haywire boring is simply beyond me.
Did I mention Gina Carano is bad-ass?
