Highlander II: The Quickening Highlander II: The Quickening
1991 Directed by Russell Mulcahy
Synopsis
It's a kind of magic.
In the year 2025, the ozone layer is believed to have been destroyed. It is up to MacLeod and Rameriz to set things right. Opposition comes from both the planet Ziest (MacLeod and Ramirez's homeworld) and a corporation profiting from the supposed lack of ozone. Also, flashbacks show the story behind MacLeod and Ramirez's exile from Ziest.

Think about the worst film you've ever seen....think about how that film made you feel. It probably pissed you off for wasting your time, maybe even offended you because it was a waste of perfectly good celluloid.....Think about it...got it?
Multiply that feeling by, like, a million and you know how I feel about this steaming heap of dog shit. -
technically this was a 2004 revision of a 1995 cut called "The Renegade Version", which should indicate to you just how supremely dorky this entire enterprise is. anyway this is absolutely ridiculous nonsense, gorgeous and inventive in attempting to achieve its low-budget analog ambitions, that successfully or not takes great pains to not be a fan-service rehash.
weird as hell.

'Okay, now let me just see if I can get this straight. You come from another planet, and you're mortal there, but you're immortal here until you kill all the guys from there who have come here... and then you're mortal here... unless you go back there, or some more guys from there came here, in which case you become immortal here... again.'
Please do not cut me. Please do not crucify me nor slit my throat for so much as saying that Highlander 2: The Quickening is a good movie...because it isn't...and that's why I love it.
From the opening with Christopher Lambert's dreadful performance as an old man (*after looking at a picture on a TV, with a…

'That was 40 years ago, I'm an old man now! DAAAAHHH!!!'
The most colossal, the most magnificent and the most perfect piece of shit ever made in the history of the universe.
From a future in which the world is covered by a giant shield to a bizarre planet in which Michael Ironside owns two hedgehog people and travels through time, this is nothing short of bizarre and spectacular.
Lambert, my dear, you truly do make the movie.

finally. my holy grail of shitty movies. and it did not disappoint.

Yes I know and knew this is not a good movie and a relatively poor sequel to the brilliant first Highlander. But still this movie and the other installments are a sort guilty pleasure of mine, I like them no matter that I know based on rational arguments it is weak. It gives me joy and I can enjoy the scenes with Michael Ironside as General Katana. The scene in which he takes over the board of the corporation is funny and you can tell Michale Ironside is truly enjoying himself.
PS: I watched the special edition

This was just confusing, the Highlander was a mystical warrior, but in this film he was an alien, he's an old fella in this one and there is something about the greenhouse effect, no ozone layer, a red shield. and more immortals who turn up to kill duncan, but end up making him immortal again, and sean connery comes back to life (Fully dressed) and goes to meet duncan, i dont know how he knows where to go, but he boards a plane (Pre 9 11 obviously, no wait its the future) he turns up for twenty minutes and dies, seriously he is that useless.

Set in a post apocalyptic world with a lot more comedic aspects. MacLeod actually has a purpose in this one, he's not just wandering around a big city remembering several centuries prior. No unbearable sword fights. Infinitely better than the original.
