First off let me please explain that by watching this movie I was not looking for any pointers on murdering my lovely Wife. When she asked "Whatcha watching??", I had to tell her that I wasn't planning any actual foul play. :-)
"How to murder your Wife" is a trip back to a pre-feminist movement America where a comedy about a man fighting back against total domination in his marriage was just clean comedy and not some attack on women at large.
Jack Lemmon, as cartoonist Stanley Ford, is at the top of his game here in a brilliantly funny role as a sort of pre-Geek Slacker who is the master of his own domain.. at least until a Marilyn…

The #1 thing I expected to find when I started thinking "there can't be any semi-intelligent people who think this is a good movie," was in their defense the justification that this is so exaggerated that it isn't realistic. Wouldn't you know it...
This film isn't pre-feminism. Women could vote in the 1960's. Even gay liberation had started by this time. If anything, this film was a response to some of the first major cultural retaliation against feminism and... even then, it's entirely without focus. It's railing against even less than your modern anti-feminists argue men are victims of. Instead of claiming that women are marrying men for the money they'll make divorcing them, Lemmon offers her convenience money within…

More entertaining then i was expecting. Turned out to be a lite dark comedy, if that makes any sense.

7. Lemmon está bien, Lisi muy guapa. Pasan un motón de cosas (no necesariamente graciosas) para decirte que casarte apesta y termina estableciendo totalmente lo contrario.

"Disappointing comedy/farce, in which Jack Lemmon played his part well, and Terry-Thomas was excellent."

This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Oy, it's like I just watched "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" all over again, but with hair and clothing styles from the 60s. It was almost as painful this time around as well.
I expected this to be a fun, silly romp, or perhaps a dark comedy like "War of the Roses". Instead, I got a screeching, unfunny painful mess, in which all the characters who share the screen do their best to hate those characters of the opposite sex. The men are abominable, spineless cretins; the women are manipulative, scheming harpies. If these are my choices, I'll leave the human race, thank you very much.
And may I say that the movie then tries to have a happy ending, one that is not at all earned. Ugh. Avoid!

Hardly politically correct by today's standards, How to Murder Your Wife is still one of the funniest films of its era. Definitely one of the best sex comedies of the Sixties.
