Visually very interesting (although, kind of dark/murky on a regular TV at times) even though the script is kind of bananas.
Gets extra points for Henry Cavill - I saw this in the theatre and then was OK with his casting for Man of Steel.

The visuals were stunning. The set design was both epic in scale, but also felt like a theatre stage, giving it an intimate feel. The battle sequences were very cool to watch...almost like slow motion ribbon dancing choreography (...but with swords and blood).
Henry Cavill is a skilled actor (though I still haven't seen Man of Steel) but he isn't given much to work with in this role. The characters were boring, the plot was non-existent, and the film seemed to just drag along.

Love how Mickey Rourke enlightens the priest. Great performance. Fun.

Tarsem Singh is an incredibly talented visual director, but he has yet to find a captivating story that best puts his talents to use. Tarsem creates some truly beautiful images and impressive action sequences, but the story is so dull and even nonexistent it makes it impossible to appreciate the film beyond anything other than its surface beauty.

Better than I thought it would be, though it turns into a run-of-the-mill wire-work fight montage at the end, where there's not real difference in gods, titans or men. Too bad since one of the best things about Greek myth is the differences in all the characters. Still the end of the movie doesn't sink the beginning and middle...though the helmet that Mickey Rourke wears for most of the movie is laughable.

"Krieg der Götter" - Wow, das war überraschend gut! Es ist zwar der typische, martialische Heldenepos, aber mit sehr schönen Bilder und weiten Landschaften, die fast schon einer Oper gleichen. Mit Blut und Gemetzel wird nicht gespart. Der Film ist in sich sehr stimmig.

Except for the artistic production design and the special effects, there is no story, no interest in this shallow and unfulfilling blockbuster.
-
Well, the story is an incoherent mess. However, the stunning visuals, some very stylish headwear and some eye-candy (mainly in the exquisite form of Henry Cavill's abs and face*) manage to entertain.
* Which of those two is more impressive is up for a debate. I, personally, vote for the face.

I'll enjoy pretty much anything Tarsem Singh does, but I think I could have just watched this film without any sound. The dialogue was mostly irrelevant but glorious to watch. Don't worry about the storyline, just enjoy the costuming/battle sequences.

Did the story make sense? Not particularly.
Was the bad guy bad? Yes, particularly Rourke's acting.
Well did he at least have good henchmen? They were faceless.
How about a plan? That would have required writing. It must have been visually good? Well when you could see something, it was okay. Though the Gods were hilariously bad.
But big fights? With many papier mache warriors. But the chicks were hot? They were Hollywood good.
I actually liked last five minutes, after the climax more than any other part of the movie.

As Man of Steel is coming quickly around the corner, I realised I have not seen a single Henry Cavill film and Immortals was a great start as he manages to lead the film very well and proves he is extremely capable at fun action. Immortals itself is a film which tries very hard to be the next 300 and whilst it doesn't completely achieve that, it…
