Synopsis
While resisting pressure from his upper-class wife to take a higher-paying job in London, a Montreal physician prepares to carry out brain surgery on a Latin American president. They don't suspect that a trio of assassins is also waiting, for their chance to carry out a political assassination on the operating table.

Any big fan of the Powell & Pressburger filmmaking team has to be, by extension, a big fan of their greatest cinematographer, Jack Cardiff. And while you'll probably find much of what he wrote or directed apart from the famous duo to be far less inspired, I've never found any of it to be less than professional, as with this 1958 completist's item, a thriller probably most distinguished by nice location shooting in Montreal. Unfortunately, its script, by Hammer veteran Jimmy Sangster, keep most of the promised thrills at bay with laborious soap operatics. Rather than the parallel storylines of adultery, I was most diverted by seeing future "Pink Panther" series castmates Herbert Lom and Peter Arne in the same film.…
