Synopsis
Alec a courageous but impetuous knight returns to his home village having been summoned by his older brother Francis to care for their ailing father. The brothers' reunion is short-lived as a traveller terrified and half-crazed arrives to warn of an imminent attack by a winged creature with the body of a dragon the head of a gruesome insect and deadly claws. As the beast descends upon the peaceful town brash Alec draws his sword and the villagers arm themselves. Now the brothers must stand together to save their home and the people they love.

I guess it is only fitting that such a silly film should be based on a nonsense verse poem. However, whilst Lewis Carroll’s famous poem is delivered in individual stanzas throughout the film the rest of the story bears little relation to its namesake. Instead this is a very straightforward dragon slaying story about a small village terrorised by the mythical winged Jabberwock. Directed by Steven R. Monroe (I Spit On Your Grave remake), this is typical Syfy fare with slothenly pacing, gruff acting and unexciting and infrequent set pieces.
At least the film’s special effects are okay (okay by TV-movie standards) and seem to be an improvement over most of the channel’s sloppy fantasy movies. Sadly I can’t say…
