Journey to the Far Side of the Sun
1969 ‘Doppelgänger’ Directed by Robert Parrish
Synopsis
You will meet yourself face-to-face when Earth meets its duplicate in outer space!
A planet is discovered in the same orbit as Earth's but is located on the exact opposite side of the sun, making it not visible from Earth. The European Space Exploration Council decide to send American astronaut Glenn Ross and British scientist John Kane via spaceship to explore the other planet. After a disastrous crash-landing Ross awakes to learn that Kane lies near death and that they apparently have returned to Earth, as evidenced by the presence of the Council director and his staff. Released to the custody of his wife, he soon learns things are not as they seem.

More-
Somewhat mediocre vintage sci-fi. Gerry Anderson took part in the production so there are few cool looking plane- and spaceship models and custom cars. The plot about twin planets is interesting but still quite silly in the end.

Also known as "Doppelganger" in the US. It's a slow-mover but the plot line is intriguing.

Mediocre British sci-fi film. Scriptwriter Gerry Anderson's fingerprints are all over it and it both looks and sounds just like one of his TV shows. The production is high quality and the cast is capable but the whole thing hinges on a completely laughable counter-Earth concept which would be hokey in a Flash Gordon serial, let alone in a film made in the late sixties.

must've been great for its time, but the ideas in it have been played over enough times that i was already familiar with them.

Liked the cast and the punch line but it took way too long to get to the meat of the story. Looks good, taking into consideration the year it was made, and there was obviously some thought put into it but it's definitely more concept than action.

Plotting is a bit too simple for what is technically a sci-go thriller, but worth watching for the miniatures alone.
