Synopsis
Roll the dice and unleash the excitement!
When siblings Judy and Peter discover an enchanted board game that opens the door to a magical world, they unwittingly invite Alan -- an adult who's been trapped inside the game for 26 years -- into their living room. This was one of my favourites growing up so I can't feel nothing but love for it even today. The CGI is incredibly dated but it doesn't look completely awful and I think it suits the film quite well. With a young Kirsten Dunst, Jumanji is a lot of fun and real child's adventure.

A great concept that goes nowhere.
The first half hour of the film I thought was very good. The relationship between Alan and his father is done well-Alan being sucked into the game is a great scene-jump to 26 years later and we get Dunst and Pierce moving into the house who have issues due to the death of their parents-they find the game and begin to play-everything up to this point was done very well-good build up-then Robin Williams comes back from inside the game and everything goes downhill.
It's not due to William's-it's the script. It's like they gave up after that point. The characters have no substance once the game really gets going-none of the humor works-the…

I guess the only reason I love this film is because I watched it a few times when I was a kid. Watching it again recently I have found that I now recognise that, yeh, it's not a great film at all, it's incredibly cliched and cheesy but who cares. It's a childhood classic that everyone hates to love and it's definitely worth a watch every 5 years or so...

A classic. The best kind of Saturday afternoon film.

I remember liking this film when I was a kid. I remember seeing it quite a few times. Saw that it was on Netflix streaming and decided to check it out to see if it still held up. It surprisingly did. The cgi is bad, but the movie I enjoyed the movie enough to be able to get past that. Robin Williams does a good job in this movie. He is funny and does a good job making it believable that he was in a different dimension for 26 years. Also Bonnie Hunt was good in this too. The kids did where passable. I always used to get Kristen Dunst, in this movie, mixed up with the girl who played…

Right in the childhood. I never wanted to play the board game when it came out.

Watched this religiously as a child.

A good film that could have been a lot better. It has a great cast but,
unfortunately, the CGI really hurts this film. -
This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Still an incredible amount of fun, this 90s adventure retains blockbusting appeal despite the diminished success of its now dated CGI. Director Joe Johnston gets the tone just right, cultivating a spooky, icky and emotionally alert flick without sacrificing the genial family allure. Robin Williams and Bonnie Hunt are game as the adult leads and Jonathan Hyde is an absolute scene-stealer occupying duel roles. It's a notch below the best of Spielberg, but as imitators go, "Jumanji" remains one of the very finest.
