Complex multi-generational love story beginning with Amitabh Bachchan, a poet named Amit, and Rakhee Gulzar as Poojah in love but forced to marry others. Cut to their children who meet as young adults when Poojah’s son Vicky (father played by Shashi Kapoor) is engaged to Pinky who’s real mother is Amit’s wife Anjali but their daughter Sweety falls for Vicky. Everybody seems to have settled down at the finale, the wedding of Vicky and Pinky.
