I just love Maggie Smith! She made this whole thing into the heart warming feel-good story that it is.
Actually I did get a bit surprised by how much I liked it. It's not the newest of stories, but it's definitely not the worst take on it either. If you're in the market for a nice little comedy, I would highly recommend this one. -
Niall Johnson’s Keeping Mum is a charming, gentle paced gem with a wicked twist. The best traditions of British comedy pierce the tender narrative and provide many laughs throughout. The light story and black comedy is the perfect juxtaposition that not only drives the narrative, but keeps it consistently grounded to humour. Audiences, who are willing to overlook some its flaws, will be rewarded with a thoroughly entertaining experience. There aren't many better contemporary British comedies that remain so closely linked to traditional British comedy style.

Ein sehr sympatischer Film, der zwar nie einen richtigen Gag auf Lager hat, jedoch immer einen Schmunzler für den Zuschauer bietet.

ch fand “Mord im Pfarrhaus” durchaus unterhaltsam anzusehen. Mit viel britischem Humor wird hier die Geschichte der Familie Goodfellow erzählt und auch wenn durch die deutsche Synchronisation der ein oder andere Sprachwitz in den schwarzen Löchern der Übersetzung verschwinden macht es Spaß dem Geschehen auf der Leinwand zu folgen. Leider feuert der Film keine richtig Gagkracher auf das Publikum ab, doch schafft es „Mord im Pfarrhaus“ dem Zuschauer fast durchgehend ein schmunzeln abzugewinnen.
Was “Mord im Pfarrhaus” für mich besonders sehenswert macht, sind die schauspielerischen Leistungen von Maggie Smith und “Mr.Bean” Rowan Atkinson. Smith überzeugt einfach durch Ihre unheimliche mütterliche Art als Haushälterin mit schmutzigem Geheimnis und auch Atkinson beweist in diesem Film dass er mehr kann als nur rumhampeln.…

A dark British Comedy that sees a Vicar and his family welcome a new housekeeper who has some secrets. This was a lot more fun than I anticipated and would say that if you like dark comedies then you could do a lot worse than see this film. The acting is good and the cast all play their roles brilliantly, especially Maggie Smith as the house keeper. I am happy to recommend this film even though when I heard about it I was not interested but sad I waited as long now.
