Watched this with no expectations and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a little over-long but otherwise a very good film about one young man's single minded determination to fail in the most spectacular way he possibly can, despite the myriad of opportunities being thrown his way.
Funny but excruciating at times, Killing Bono is a cautionary tale of self-sabotage that manages the frankly near-impossible feat of not making Bono the most pretentious and idiotic character in it.

Filmas sākas ar to, ka tīņi pie skolas ziņojumu dēļa lasa sludinājumu kur kāds Larijs Mullens meklē domubiedrus grupas dibināšanai.

Its a great story but the film is played too lightly. If it was better cast and told with a bit more grit this could have been something special.

doesn't matter how much you have fucked up, you can always fuck up even more. in his search for a way to become a rockstar, neil mccormick fucked up almost every little chance he had. he could have been bono, and his band could have been u2, but, well, that wasn't what happened.

Old Archive Review:
Killing Bono isn’t the film quite a lot of people would be expecting when seeing it. He is still alive and well. The film stars Ben Barnes, Robert Sheehan, Martin McCann, Krysten Ritter, Peter Serafinowicz and Pete Postlethwaite in his final film appearance.
I remember seeing the trailer back in December and thinking this could be a surprisingly entertaining film which it is but somehow loses on what sort of film it ones to be. With this in mind though the acting isn’t hampered. Ben Barnes plays Neil McCormick who has almost a crusade to hate U2 and Bono for becoming one of the worlds biggest bands, whilst he’s still struggling along with his brother Ivan McCormick…

"I enjoyed this fictionalised story of two brothers who want to become rock stars, as do some friends from school who are in another band. The brothers, like most wouldbe rock stars fail pretty miserably, whilst their school friends achieve worldwide and lasting success as U2. I liked this story of failure and horrible mistakes, but if it's a comedy that must have flown straight over my head as I didn't find it especially funny."

The premise is good and the cast on paper looked good however, the film had poor acting and the storyline was weak. Also for a comedy I didn't feel there were enough laughs.
