Overbearing social issues drama propelled by Ray's burgeoning eye.

Bogart double feature night in my house! BOOM, love it. Favorite actor of all time. A fun courtroom drama told from the POV of Bogart's character as the events unfolded (flashbacks) with testimonies and other courtroom dealings happening as well. Little different to see Bogart play a lawyer, but I think it actually fits him!

Nicholas Ray's "Knock on Any Door" starts off very promising but then descends into a drab social picture where the audience is chastised for causing ill in society. The film is at it's best when we are with Bogart. John Derek doesn't make a convincing hood.
