Reviews of Kung Pow: Enter the Fist 2002

Utterly atrocious. Still has a few moments that crack me up, but mostly I'm just embarrassed that I loved it so much as an adolescent.

KUNG POW is absolutely hilarious and one of my favorite comedies. Redubbing a virtually unknown old kung fu flick with silly dialogue may seem like a quaint little stunt, but it's so hilariously re-written that it transcends the gimmick. New footage is also incorporated to round out the new story, with varying success. Fans of classic kung fu movies will find even more to enjoy as it actively riffs on familiar genre tropes.
That said, I can't quite give it…

"I implore you to reconsider..."
Kung Pow: Enter The Fist is one of the stupidest comedies the world has ever seen, something I can't possibly stress enough. I can't explain why, but for some reason I was really looking forward to this at the time. I don't know what the hell I was thinking, because it was pretty awful.

It's so ridiculous that you have to laugh... As I did most of the movie... towards the end it gets a bit too far-fetched but still a great parody of kung fu movies.

I forgot how funny this is.

Had me in fits from start to finish. Alcohol may have helped. Almost the entire movie is taken from two 70s Kung Fu movies and then had some modern day actors blue screened into the movie to react to the badly re dubbed original cast. Ingenious idea, perfectly executed and by far the best send up of the genre I've seen.
Drinking Game: Everytime Ling makes an obscure noise
Bottom Line: I would recommend this alongside Naked Gun & Top Secret - it's that awesome.
