"Yes she is that kind of a monster". Strong film about Oedipus complex, where a possessive woman who loves her father marries a man who looks just like her father to fulfill her secret dirty desire. And if that sounds a little shocking, believe me, it is only the beginning. Yes, she is that kind of a monster :)
Great film!

Visually arresting melodrama with the beautiful Gene Tierney as a woman whose jealousy proves to be very destructive. Tierney can do cold beauty like few others, and she is very good here. The film looks stunning in technicolor, with set and costume design that is wondeful. Highly recommended.

First time viewing on Blu Ray was nothing short of spectacular. The film is a great drama noir with Gene Tierney at her most vile and vicious selt. Great cast, great acting, story and now picture quality ! :)

masterpiece

Amazing amount of work on the technicolor. Nice to see early Vincent Price. Eloquently scripted. Surprisingly cold murders by such a beauty. Good watch.

I thought I was getting more sappy melodrama. What I got was scheming murderess Gene Tierney on a jealous rampage. So that was refreshing.
Still, I can’t say it was great. It was okay.

Gene Tierney is stunning...especially in technicolor! And puts in a fantastic performance as a whack job, overzealous wife with daddy issues. Unfortunately, the story takes too long to develop, and there's the added problem of false expectations, as this was a LOT less noir than I have been led to believe.
Technicolor however is used to it's fullest here, and much credit needs to be given for the cinematography. There are many gorgeous scenes. Just too much talking heads with not enough good dialogue, until perhaps the courtroom scene, where Wilde finally delivers a fine performance. But it's a little too late.

Beautiful looking, Technicolor film with a decent noir-ish story. Gene Tierney is fantastic in the lead role.

This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Besides Tierney, the main star of this film is Technicolor.
