This is a movie that seems to be on everyone’s must watch list and also on everyone’s must own list. This movie has never been released on DVD, so you can only find on VHS or laserdisc. The laserdiscs are running over $100 for a copy, while VHS can fetch the upwards of $50-$60 depending on the version of the film. There are two different covers on the VHS you need to look for. The blue cover and the red cover. The red cover is the easier to find of the two just because it is a re-issue. The blue version is the one you want. Orginally released in the early 80′s this is the only version you can get…

Sex-obsessed teenage girls at a summer camp decide to take bets on who will lose their virginity first; rich goody-goody Tatum O'Neal or middle-class badass Christy McNichol. I read on a now-defunct tumblr that this movie came out way before the other libido-driven, "virginity quest" movies of the 1980's like Porky's. This is notable because it's not about male sexuality for once. What I love about it is that it pokes holes in the idea of sex making you more of an adult without preaching to its audience. It's still quite cheesy and dated in parts, but I had a lot of fun watching it.

This potentially icky movie about two 15 year-old girls competing to see who will first lose their virginity is redeemed by a thoughtful script and a great performance by McNichol as Angel, the tough girl with a vulnerable center.
