Chico conoce chica.

A wonderful screenplay that refused to fall through the cracks, and managed to be forged into a film. Albeit on a minimal budget, but in the end it still manages to convey the emotion it was originally intended to. Granted, it is a relatively short film, some bits just seem like complete filler, and at times the acting is sub-par. However, it delivers much more than you'd expect a movie with a $2000 budget would dream of. I found much more appreciation in it than I have in some films with $200 million budgets. Overall, I wasn't completely satisfied with the movie, but the ending makes it absolutely worth the 80 minute investment.

One of my all time favorites.

Despite working on a very modest budget, this film had some amazing makeup! Filmed almost entirely on a soundstage, "Lo" used inventive, and strange, techniques to dramatize the mind-games played between our main characters. Not to mention, Lo, the demon, was very enjoyable to watch. Part-comedian, part-monster, Lo made it easy to forget that you were essentially watching a man in a room for an hour and a half.
While I enjoyed what they were aiming for, the dialogue, length and acting (with the exception of the demons) were a bit too campy. It started to come off like a bad college play. Sadly, it took me out of the moment.

Travis Betz followed up his amazing gory debut Joshua, with something totally different and creative. Lo (the name of the main demon in the story) is filmed entirely on a sound stage, it follows a mans journey to hell to retrieve his girlfriend, only to find out shes not the woman he thought she was.
As much as I liked the movie as a refreshing change I'd be the first to agree that not all the ideas in Lo totally worked. The fx and creature design is amazing, while a few segments of the story along with some of the acting and especially singing (ohh boy I watched this back to back with Betz follow-up 'Dead Inside', I hated it because I don't do musicals) felt very amature dramatics class worthy.

A fascinatingly bizarre single-location comedy with a neat story, impressive creature costumes, and pretty awful acting. I laughed regularly, be it because of a joke or because I wasn't sure what I was watching. This is probably about as cult as a movie gets.

Lo is certainly stylish and pretty unique but it’s utterly awful. A series of terrible vignettes that are badly performed, written and are full of awful comedy. The demons all look good and the effects work is top notch. It’s a shame the creatures are all used in such a boring film. It’s thankfully short though.
