I found this half-watched from Christmas time so finished it to make room on my DVR. I can see why children enjoy this series of films, they're unchallenging and fun, with cute and friendly wild animals as stars.

Can we just get rid of the annoying main characters and do a film about the penguins?
Everyone knows they're the true stars of the film.

This was an entertaining movie which in my opinion is better than the first Madagascar but falls short to other animated films released this year like Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E. The story is funny and entertaining and the most memorable characters happen to be the secondary ones like the penguins and the lemers. However I dont think I would enjoy watching it again as I would other films of the same genre but it was entertaining to watch for a first time. It had several similarites to the Lion King although not nearly as good as that film, but there are several similarites that can be drawn from that movie such as the evil lion uncle character who even resembles Scar in appearance. Overall the movie is watchable, entertaining, and the kids will enjoy it although you probably wouldnt find me watching the movie over again.

This isn't particularly funny and doesn't have the novelty of the first film.

Fun and fast-paced comedy adventure with a nice message, some funny jokes and surprisingly high level of camp. Not all of the gags hit but it's a nice, easy watch and sometimes that's all you need.

There are some really funny jokes, especially with the penguins... which are, let's face it, the best.

"Same as the first one but with the penguins, monkeys & even King Julien having more screentime who are the best characters in these movies."
