Madame Bovary? What a stupid woman! I hated her. Both as a character and felt Jean Renoir picked the wrong lady for the role. Valentine Tessier just didn't look like someone all these men would desire. And I struggled to feel any interest for her too which hurt the movie as she was there all the time. After a series of quality films I felt Renoir was a bit off with this story. Not that Madame Bovary is a bad movie. It's just not up to the standard I've been spoiled with from this director.
