Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals
Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals is a 2010 television documentary film broadcast on HBO. The film chronicles the rivalry between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird that begin with the 1979 NCAA Basketball Championship Game and lasted throughout their lengthy, Hall of Fame careers in the NBA. The film makes an argument that without the massive media attention that was placed on the rivalry that Magic and Bird had, the NBA might not have made through the 1980s following the merger with the ABA, among other things.
I wish I watched this instead of The Announcement 30 for 30.
June Challenge film 47. This was a nice documentary about the parallel careers and rivalry of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. After facing off with each other in the NCAA Championship game in 1979, the two found themselves leading teams that would dominate the NBA in the 1980s. This made me wonder how many titles my Sixers would have won in the 1980s if one or both of these guys hadn't been there. Probably 4. Oh well, I was a small child then and wouldn't have enjoyed it much anyways. :P
It was good to see how Magic was the larger than life nice, cool guy figure in contrast to Bird's image as a stoic tough guy time who was…
How does this not make Magic "Aids" Johnson not look gay.
