This years exclusive list of Best Picture contenders is a very depressing, somber, and often downright sad collection of films; and Manchester by the Sea is no exception.

I loved it.
Anyone who knows me, knows the passion I have for movies. I will take a film with a completely unoriginal story, so long as the characters are well developed and make you feel something. Thankfully, this film was not short on either, but it's the latter where this story truly shines.
The words that come to mind are 'authentic' and 'genuine'. No other film this year had performances with more chemistry or more truer dialogue than the characters throughout Manchester, and specifically, the relationship between Pat…
