March or Die
The French Foreign Legion, in the early 20s, is tasked to protect a group of Archaeologists in the middle east. After scenes depicting the hardship of day-to-day Foreign Legion life, and the ragtag collection of people who join, the local Arabs take offence at the Archaeologists and declare Jihad. A large battle takes place, with the inevitable last stand.
On Friday nights I enjoy a 1970's movie for they are slower paced than contemporary movies and after a week of hard work that suits me fine.
I enjoyed this movie and especially the performance of Gene Hackman. Hackman acting also started slowly but got better as the movie went along and he really hit his straps later in the film.
I felt it was a bit unfortunate that the DVD I have seen was missing some of the scenes which would have given more background and color to Hackman's character. Still an enjoyable watch.
