Owen and Jen are an awful unlikeable couple who want to cement their awful relationship. Owen isn't ready for a kid but a plant seems flippant so he gets a golden labradour and calls it Marley after some dead fella he hears on the radio. Jen is overjoyed, but not for long as Marley turns out to be a untrainable nightmare. And that's about it.
Seriously, 'Marley and Me' is a film about nothing. It has at it's heart a mans midlife existential crisis chanelled via a cute bundle of fur. Watching it I remembered this had pulled in huge bucks in the states and realised America has finally snapped that one last thread it's collective sanity was hanging by.…

I had a dog and he was like a brother to me. When you get a puppy and you teach them everything and take them everywhere with you until they grow old, they become part of your family like they were human. When my dog died, it was just like losing a brother. Now, i don't particularly care for Jennifer Aniston and the movie itself to most people is probably a bit blah. But if you've ever had a dog like mine that died, you will probably blub the whole way through like i did. Im a 29 year old man and i balled like a baby.

There was a point when I started giving the movie a chance (despite my great dislike of Aniston), and started feeling something, but then things are overdone in crappy ways and the feeling was gone. It has some good, but unfortunately it also has just as much bad (if not a bit more).

A movie with a true heart that feels real and who can’t love a movie about a dog. Wilson actually does a good job with this part – showing he can do more than smirk. Any dog owner will identify with this, how a dog can be a destructive force but still capture your heart. I'm actually living that with my current dog, a black lab version of Marley. Anniston is very likable as the wife but this is the dog’s movie.
